Dig Deep... and donate to Friends of Fort Vancouver!
We appreciate your donations to the Friends of the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site and the Special Heritage Garden Fund.
In memory of Fort volunteer Paul Stasz, who passed away on November 2, 2020, the Friends have set up a Heritage Garden Fund to receive contributions. Paul had been a regular volunteer, primarily in the Fort's Historic Garden, as well as in the apple orchard, which he was working to restore. He was also instrumental in working to identify the genetic origins of the Old Apple Tree.
Paul shared his considerable expertise with other Fort volunteers, as well as with visitors to the Fort garden, especially in pruning and caring for the fig trees, quince, and currants. He regularly tended the hops arbor in the garden and loved to tell small children who visited that it was actually a "faery tunnel,” much to their delight.
Paul's presence, good humor, and willingness to help will be sorely missed by the Fort's volunteers and staff. The memorial donations will be used for special projects in the Fort garden.
