Costume and Textiles
The Costume and Textiles Department 'sets the stage' for the experience of visitors at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. Their volunteers with their extraordinary, carefully researched period clothing and knowledge of their characters are a part of every event at the site, from the Vintage Base Ball game to the Lantern Tours. Find out about volunteering for the Costume and Textiles Department here and take a peek behind the scenes here.
The Costume Department also participates with NPS in the Dame School and Young Engagé school at Fort Vancouver.
Recently, thanks to a generous donor to the Friends who asked that their donation be used to benefit the Costume Department, a workshop was held on how to create ribbon pansies for embellishment of costumes and accessories. See more details here.
